Recycling Pickup Schedule
Recycling is collected every other week on the same day as your regular trash pickup. Follow the A & B Week Schedule:
- Week A – Trash and recycling collection
- Week B – Only trash collection
So if your regular trash day is Wednesday, your recycling weeks will be:
- Week A – Trash & recycling on Wednesday
- Week B – Only trash on Wednesday

Follow these guidelines for successful trash and recycling collection:
- Place bins curbside by 6 AM on your pickup day
- All trash must be bagged – no loose waste
- Do not overflow bins – lids should fully close
- Recycle only acceptable paper, metal, plastic, and glass
- Avoid placing bins near parked cars or mailboxes
- Remove bins from curb by end of collection day

Special Trash Collection
For oversized items that don’t fit in your regular bins, Frederick offers special bulk trash pickup.

Brush and yard waste are also collected weekly with advance request by zone.
Moving or Starting Service
Trash collection service is provided automatically for all residential properties within Frederick city limits.
To start new service:
- Contact DPW 1 week before move-in to set up collection
