The City of Longview provides trash and recycling collection services to residents. This article provides an overview of collection schedules, policies, and contact information for Longview’s trash and recycling program.
Collection Days

Trash and recycling are collected once per week on your designated day.

Collection occurs Monday through Thursday each week. Friday is reserved for overflow collection.
Holiday Schedule
Longview observes 3 holidays that impact trash collection:

Thanksgiving – No collection on Thanksgiving (Thursday). Thursday collection moves to Friday.

Christmas – No collection on Christmas Day. All collection days shift one day after Christmas.

New Year’s Day – No collection on New Year’s Day. All collection days shift one day after New Year’s.
Collection Policies

Carts must be placed curbside by 7:00 AM on collection day.

Carts should be removed from curb by 11:00 PM on collection day.
-
Carts must be 4 feet away from any obstacles like mailboxes, cars, trees, etc.
Trash Cart

All residents receive one 95-gallon trash cart.
-
Extra trash must fit completely inside the cart with lid fully closed.

Bag or box any extra trash to prevent littering.
Recycling Cart

All residents receive one 95-gallon recycling cart.

Accepted recyclables include clean plastic bottles, cans, paper, cardboard. Full list here.

Do not bag recyclables. Place loose in cart.

Extra recycling can be placed in boxes or paper bags beside cart.
Bulky Items

Bulky items like furniture and appliances are collected on your designated monthly collection week.

Limit of 5 cubic yards of bulky items per collection.

Doors must be removed from appliances. Tires must be off rims.

Schedule bulky item pickup at least 48 hours in advance.
Vegetation and Yard Waste

Yard waste like leaves, branches, and grass can be taken to the Longview Compost Site for free disposal.

The Compost Site is located at 3800 Airline Rd.

residential access on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8 AM – 5 PM with valid driver’s license or water bill.
Hazardous Waste

Hazardous waste like chemicals, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, paints, etc. cannot go in your trash.

Drop off hazardous waste at the Gregg County Longview Hazardous Waste Collection Center.

The Collection Center is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 PM – 5 PM.
