American Fork, Utah provides trash and recycling collection services to residents through a contract with Republic Services. This article provides an overview of the collection schedule, acceptable materials, rates, and other key details for American Fork trash and recycling.

Collection Zones and Schedules

American Fork is divided into collection zones, with trash collected weekly and recycling collected every other week. To find your collection schedule:

Garbage collection occurs weekly on your designated day. Recycling collection occurs every other week on your designated day.

Holidays do not affect the weekly trash collection schedule. However, if a holiday falls on a recycling collection day, service will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Recycling Program Overview

American Fork offers single-stream recycling through Republic Services. Acceptable recycling materials include:

  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Paper
  • Aluminum cans
  • Steel cans
  • Plastic containers #1-7

Recyclable materials must be clean without food or liquid residue. Milk cartons must be separated from caps and rings before recycling.

Unacceptable materials: Glass containers, styrofoam, food waste, yard waste, textiles, hazardous waste.

Note: Glass containers cannot be placed in curbside recycling bins due to safety concerns. Take glass materials to a drop-off recycling location instead.

Rates and Billing

As of July 2023, the monthly rates for trash and recycling service in American Fork are:

  • 1st garbage can: $12.50
  • Additional garbage cans: $8.20 per can
  • Recycling can: $7.35

Dump Passes

American Fork provides residents with one free annual dump pass for the North Pointe Solid Waste District facility. This allows 3 free dump trips per year to dispose of extra waste and large items. See dump pass details.
