Regular Collection Schedule
Trash and recycling collection in Attleboro occurs once per week on a set schedule depending on your address.

Collection begins at 7AM on your scheduled day. Residents should place bins curbside the night before scheduled pickup days.
Recycling
Attleboro utilizes single-stream recycling where all recyclables can be placed in the same container. Accepted recyclable materials include:
- Paper and cardboard
- Plastic containers
- Glass bottles and jars
- Metal food and drink cans
- Milk and juice cartons
- Aseptic containers like soup or broth boxes
Recyclable materials should be clean and dry before placing in bins.
Attleboro provides one 96-gallon recycling cart to each household. Additional carts can be requested for $55 each.
Trash
Household trash is collected weekly on scheduled days in Attleboro. Trash should be bagged and placed roadside each week on the evening before scheduled pickup days.
Attleboro utilizes a Pay As You Throw system for trash pricing:
- Official Attleboro trash bags must be used for disposal. Bags are available at local retailers.
- Bag sizes and pricing:
- 15 gallon bags – $2.50 each
- 30 gallon bags – $5.00 each
- Trash in bags not issued by the city will not be collected.
Bulky Items
Bulky items like furniture, mattresses, appliances, and other large items are collected on an on-call basis. Residents must schedule pickup of bulky items in advance.
To schedule bulky item pickup:
- Call Attleboro Public Works at 508-223-2222 at least 24 hours before your trash collection day
- Limit of 3 bulky items per week
- Fee of $10 per item
Yard Waste
Yard waste like leaves, grass clippings, twigs, and brush under 1 inch diameter is collected weekly on trash day from April 1 to December 1.
- Yard waste must be placed in paper yard waste bags or rigid containers marked as “yard waste.”
- Plastic bags will not be collected.
Christmas trees are collected during the first 2 weeks of January on your normal collection day.
Hazardous Waste
Hazardous waste like chemicals, oils, batteries, and other materials require special disposal. Attleboro holds seasonal household hazardous waste collection days for residents to properly dispose of these items. Upcoming hazardous waste days:
- April 22, 2023
- September 23, 2023
Outside of hazardous waste days, residents can dispose of household hazardous waste at the Norton Transfer Station year-round. Proof of Attleboro residency is required.
Holiday Schedule
Trash and recycling pickup is delayed by one day if the scheduled collection day falls on a holiday.
Friday collection moves to Saturday.
