The city of Golden provides trash and recycling collection services to residents through the Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) program. This article provides an overview of trash and recycling schedules, services, and other key details for the PAYT program in Golden.
Trash Collection Schedule
Trash is collected weekly on a set schedule that follows designated routes throughout the city. To find your trash collection day, refer to the route map or input your address on the Republic Services website.
Trash collection occurs weekly on the same day, unless:
- Your collection day falls on or after a holiday, in which case it is delayed by one day that week.
- Severe weather causes Republic Services to suspend collections.
See the 2023 collection holiday schedule for exact trash delay dates.
Recycling Collection Schedule
Recycling is collected every other week on the same day as your regular trash pickup. Recycling weeks alternate with organics collection weeks.
To determine if a given week is your recycling or organics week, refer to the route map or Republic Services online lookup tool.
Organics Collection Schedule
Organics (compostable materials) are collected every other week, alternating with recycling weeks. Check the route map or Republic Services online lookup to confirm if it is organics week.
Collection Time and Placement
For trash, recycling, and organics:
- Carts must be placed curbside by 7AM on your collection day
- Carts should be 3 to 5 feet apart from each other
- Wheels placed against the curb, handles facing your property
- Avoid placing near poles, trees, or parked vehicles
