What Qualifies As Bulk Trash?

Bulk trash consists of large items generated from normal household activities that are too big to fit inside your regular trash bins. This includes:

• Furniture (couches, tables, mattresses, etc.)
• Appliances
• Exercise equipment
• Large toys
• Lawn mowers
• Grills
• Other oversized items

Each bulk item, except for furniture and appliances, cannot exceed 5 cubic yards in size (about the size of two pickup truck beds). All items must also be of a reasonable size and weight that two waste management employees can safely lift.

Monthly Bulk Pickup Schedule

• Goodyear provides monthly bulk trash pickup for residents
• Pickup days are assigned as the “1st – 4th day” of each month (i.e. 1st Monday, 2nd Tuesday etc.)
• If the pickup day falls on the 5th occurrence of that weekday in a month, bulk pickup does NOT occur

Bulk Pickup Guidelines

Follow these guidelines when setting out bulk trash:

• Cut all items into 4 foot lengths
• Seal grass clippings in bags or cardboard boxes
• Seal glass items or anything with sharp edges in boxes and label “GLASS”
• Place items in the street next to the curb
• Do not block pedestrians, vehicles, or utilities
• Set out after 6PM the night before pickup
• Set out up to 7 days prior to your pickup date
• Items set out after 6AM on pickup day may not be collected

Unaccepted Items

Goodyear’s bulk trash service does not accept:

• Regular household trash
• Hazardous materials
• Large auto parts
• Boats
• Tires
• Oils or lubricants
• Dirt, rocks, concrete
• Construction/demolition debris
• Broken glass items

Finding Your Pickup Date

You can find your assigned bulk trash pickup day using Goodyear’s Waste Wizard tool.

Simply enter your address and it will show your weekly trash/recycling day along with your monthly bulk pickup date. You can also sign up for email reminders.

Holiday Schedule Changes

Bulk trash pickup shifts based on the following observed holidays:

• New Year’s Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day

Check the holiday schedule for adjusted pickup dates.

Bulk trash is not collected on 5th occurrence days that fall on a holiday.

Reporting Missed Pickups

If your bulk trash was not collected on your scheduled day, report it using Goodyear’s Report a Problem system or call 623-882-7887.

Be sure to submit any missed pickups within 24 hours. You will need to provide:

• Your name, address and phone number
• The date your pickup was missed
• List of items not collected

The city will send a truck to collect your bulk trash within 1-2 business days of reporting.
