Hilliard, Ohio provides trash, recycling, and yard waste collection services to residents every Tuesday, with the exception of certain holidays. Regular Weekly Collection
- Trash, recycling, and yard waste are collected curbside every Tuesday in Hilliard.
- Collection services are provided by the City’s contracted hauler, Local Waste Services.
- Residents should place bins at the end of their driveway by 7am on Tuesdays.
Holiday Collection Schedule
Trash collection is delayed by one day and shifted to Wednesday when the following holidays fall on a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday:
- New Year’s Day (January 1)
- Memorial Day (last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day (first Monday in September)
- Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday in November)
- Christmas Day (December 25)
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, collection proceeds as scheduled.

Provided Curbside Bins
- Each household receives two bins from the City of Hilliard:
- Blue bin for recyclables
- Green bin for trash
- Residents can request a larger blue recycling bin for free.
- An extra or larger green trash bin can be purchased for $50.
Damaged or Broken Bins
For trash and recycling bins damaged through regular use:
- Hilliard residents can request bin repairs through the 311 online service request system.
- The City’s Operations Division will inspect bins on Wednesdays or Thursdays after a request is made.
- If necessary, the City will fix or replace broken bins free of charge.
Residents are responsible for routine bin cleaning. The City will not replace bins due to odor or dirtiness.
Bulk Item Collection
Furniture, mattresses, carpeting, and other bulk items are collected on regular trash days if placed at the curb.
Guidelines for bulk item collection:
- Any upholstered items like mattresses must be wrapped in plastic.
- Large items should be broken down to pieces less than 50 pounds.
- Hazardous materials, tires, car parts, and construction debris cannot be collected with household trash.

Yard Waste Collection
- Yard waste is collected weekly from April 1 to November 30.
- No yard waste collection takes place from December 1 to March 31.
- Grass clippings, leaves, brush, and garden debris must be placed in brown paper yard waste bags or rigid containers marked with yard waste stickers.
- Stickers are available at Hilliard City Hall.

To ensure recyclable materials are properly collected:
- Do not bag or bundle recyclables – place loose in bin.
- Keep plastic grocery bags out of curbside recycling. Return to grocery stores.

Trash and Recycling Bill Payment
Residents receive trash and recycling bills in July and January. Bills can be paid:
- Online through the payment portal
- By phone at 614-876-7361
- In person at Hilliard City Hall
Senior citizen and financial hardship discounts are available. Partial payments can also be arranged if the full amount cannot be paid by the due date.
