Holiday Collection Schedule
Collection is suspended on these holidays:
- New Year’s Day (January 1)
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day (3rd Monday in January)
- Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
- Independence Day (July 4)
- Labor Day (1st Monday in September)
- Thanksgiving (4th Thursday in November)
- Christmas Day (December 25)
Service resumes the following business day, except for Thanksgiving (resumes the following Friday).

Provided Carts
- Hillsborough County provides a gray trash cart and blue recycling cart.
- Yard waste must be placed in reusable containers or biodegradable paper bags.
- Carts should be placed at the curb by 6:00 am on collection day.
- Additional carts can be requested for a fee.
Bulk Items
Bulky items like furniture and mattresses are collected on regular collection days if they are placed curbside. Guidelines:
- Mattresses and fabric items must be wrapped in plastic.
- Large items should be dismantled into pieces less than 50 lbs.
- Hazardous and banned items cannot be collected.
Arrange special pick-up for large volumes of bulk waste.
Yard Waste
- Yard waste collection runs January – December.
- Grass clippings, leaves, branches, and shrubs must be placed in bags, cans, or reusable containers.
- Christmas trees are collected in January (remove all decor first).
- Drop off yard waste for free at County disposal sites.
Recyclables Collection
Place these loose recyclables in your blue cart:
- Plastic bottles, jugs, and containers (#1-7)
- Glass bottles and jars
- Metal food cans and clean aluminum
- Milk and juice cartons
- Paper, cardboard, newspaper
Do not bag recyclables. Return plastic bags to grocery stores.

Payment and Billing
The annual solid waste disposal fee is included with property tax bills. Homeowners can pay online or by mail after receiving their tax bill.
Tenants should verify if trash fees are included in rent. Unincorporated area renters may need to pay Hillsborough County directly.
