Collection Schedule
Trash collection in Huntsville occurs once per week on a designated day. To find your specific collection day:

Trash routes run from Monday to Thursday each week. Friday is used as a make-up day if necessary.
Recycling is collected every-other week on the same day as your trash pickup. Refer to the Recycling Alliance of North Alabama for details.
Holiday Schedule
Trash collection is delayed by one day when a holiday falls during the week (Mon-Fri).
Holidays that affect pickup are:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
If your normal pickup day falls on or follows the holiday, set materials out one day later than usual.

Collection Guidelines
Trash Cart
- 96 gallon cart provided by the city
- Place at curb by 7 AM on pickup day
- Carts must be 5 feet from obstructions
- Do not overflow cart or exceed 50 lbs
Bulk Trash
- Items that do not fit in cart like furniture
- Fees apply based on volume
- Place curbside by 7 AM on pickup day
Yard Waste
- Grass clippings, leaves, brush in containers
- Limbs cut to 5 feet or less
- Containers cannot exceed 32 gallons
- Yard waste exceeding 10 cubic yards incurs fees
Unacceptable Materials
- Hazardous waste, chemicals, paint
- Dirt, rocks, concrete, bricks
- Dead animals
- Contractor or commercial waste

Recycling
The Recycling Alliance of North Alabama (RANA) provides curbside recycling for Huntsville residents every other week.
Accepted materials:
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Glass bottles and jars
- Metal food and beverage cans
- Mixed paper and cardboard

Monthly garbage collection fees are:
- 96 gallon cart: $16.50
- Additional carts: $3 each
Yard waste collection fees:
- Minimum $45 per cubic yard
- Over 10 cubic yards: $45 per each additional 5 cubic yards

If your garbage or recycling are not collected on the scheduled day:
