Holiday Schedule Overview

Kansas City suspends trash collection on major holidays including:

No Tag Weeks

Twice a year, Kansas City offers “no tag” weeks after major holidays. During no tag weeks, residents can set out up to 12 extra trash bags without purchasing additional tags. Bags must weigh under 40 pounds.

No tag weeks occur:

• After Independence Day: July 5-10
• After Christmas: December 26-30

No hazardous waste, bulky items, or yard waste will be collected during no tag weeks.

Inclement Weather Policy

Kansas City may suspend trash collection during major snow storms. This allows trash collection staff to assist with snow removal operations.

If collection is suspended due to weather, the holiday collection schedule goes into effect. For example, if Monday pickup is cancelled due to snow, Monday’s route will be collected on Tuesday.

• Report missed collection by 5PM day-of through 311 online or by phone.
