The City of Leavenworth provides trash pickup for residents once per week. Trash collection occurs on the same day each week, depending on your location in the city.
Trash Collection Schedule

Trash pickup occurs weekly on Monday through Friday based on your assigned pickup day. See the trash collection map to find your scheduled pickup day.

Trash carts and bags must be placed curbside by 7 AM on your designated pickup day.

Service does not occur on major holidays, causing pickup days to shift. See the holiday schedule.

Trash Cart Guidelines

Households receive one free 96-gallon trash cart from the city. Additional carts can be requested for a fee.

Carts must be placed curbside with wheels and handles facing the street.

Trash bags and loose items must be placed directly inside the cart. Any items outside of the cart will not be collected.

Carts are emptied only once per week. Overfilled carts with items sticking out will not be completely emptied.

Carts must be removed from the curb the same day as pickup. Store carts behind the front edge of home or in the garage.
Trash Bag Policies

Trash bags must not weigh over 60 pounds each. Oversized bags will be left behind.

Only plastic bags designed specifically for trash will be collected. Grocery/shopping bags are not acceptable.

Sharp, pointy, or bulky items should be double-bagged to prevent ripping.

Loose trash or items outside of bags will not be collected. Everything must be bagged or contained in the city trash cart.
Accepted and Prohibited Items
The City of Leavenworth can collect the following curbside on regular trash days:
- Everyday household waste and food scraps
- Non-recyclable paper, plastic, and packaging
- Up to 5 tires per household per year
- Small yard waste and branches under 5 ft, bundled
Items prohibited from curbside pickup include:

The city provides one 18-gallon bin for mixed paper and containers. Additional bins can be requested.

Brush and Yard Waste

Grass clippings and leaves can be taken to the Brush Site from October-December. Waste bags must be emptied.
