New customers must set up utility services and will be charged the monthly trash/recycling fee. Additional services like bulky item pickup can be added for an extra monthly charge.

Collection Process

• Trash collection occurs weekly on your designated day.
• Recycling is collected every other week on your trash day.
• Pickup occurs Monday – Friday from 6am – 5pm.
• Place bins curbside by 6am on your pickup date. Avoid blocking bike lanes and sidewalks.
• Recycling and trash should be loose – not bagged. Place in city-provided bins.
• Make sure lids are closed. Do not overfill containers.

Missed Collection

If your trash or recycling is missed on your scheduled pickup day:

• Confirm materials were properly sorted, placed curbside by 6am, and bins did not exceed weight limits.

Household Hazardous Waste

The City of Tucson collects household hazardous waste (HHW) like chemicals, batteries, and electronics for safe disposal. HHW drop-off is available at the Los Reales Landfill.

Standard HHW drop-off hours are Monday – Friday from 7am – 2:30pm, closing at 11:30am on Thursdays. Holiday closures and additional hours vary. Customers should call 520-791-5683 to confirm drop-off times around holidays.

Recycling Center Holiday Hours
