Trash and Recycling Pickup Schedule in Manatee County, FL

//

Admin

Manatee County provides trash and recycling collection services for residents living in unincorporated parts of the county. Understanding the collection schedule, policies, and fees helps homeowners properly dispose of waste.

Overview of Trash and Recycling

Manatee County Utilities handles trash, recycling, and yard waste collection for single family homes, duplexes, and mobile homes in unincorporated areas.

Cities like Bradenton, Palmetto, and Anna Maria have their own waste collection programs. Check with your city for service days if you don’t live in an unincorporated area.

The county uses manual collection with trucks and crews picking up carts and bags left curbside by residents.

Find Your Collection Day

Manatee County trash pickup occurs twice per week, while recycling is collected once a week.

Use the collection day lookup tool and enter your address to find your designated collection days.

  • Trash collection is either Mon/Thurs OR Tues/Fri
  • Recycling collection is once per week
  • Yard waste pickup is Wednesdays

Collection occurs between 6AM and 6PM on your scheduled day. Times vary within this window.

Place all waste curbside before 6AM on pickup days.

Trash Policies and Preparation

Manatee County does not provide trash carts to residents. Homeowners must provide their own garbage cans or bags.

Accepted containers:

  • Plastic bags at least 1.5 mil thick
  • 32 gallon trash cans
  • Cardboard boxes are NOT allowed

Bagged trash or cans cannot exceed 50 pounds. Materials over 50 pounds will not be collected.

Trash must be placed within 3 feet of the curb for pickup. Do not place in roadways or blocking sidewalks.

Recycling Collection

The county provides one 64-gallon cart to each household for recycling collection.

Accepted loose recyclables include:

  • Paper and cardboard
  • Plastic bottles and jugs
  • Glass jars and bottles
  • Aluminum cans

Extra recycling materials can be placed in bags or boxes next to carts on pickup days. Label overflow recycling containers.

  • Houseplant materials

Yard waste placed in plastic bags or over 50 pounds will NOT be collected.
