The city of Arlington provides weekly trash and biweekly recycling collection for residents. Pickup days depend on your address location. Holidays impact the collection schedule. Trash Collection

Trash pickup occurs once per week on assigned days. Use the collection day lookup tool to find your scheduled collection day.

Place trash in carts or bags by 7AM on pickup days. Carts should be 3-5 feet away from objects like mailboxes and cars.

All trash must fit inside provided carts with lids fully closed. Extra trash must be bagged – no loose items.

Carts and bags should not exceed 50 pounds. Overweight containers may not be collected.

Trash carts must be removed from curb by 10PM on collection day.
Recycling Collection

Recycling is picked up every other week on assigned days. Check the collection calendar to determine your pickup weeks.

Have bins curbside by 7AM on recycling days. Place 3-5 feet from objects.

All recyclables must be clean and placed loosely in provided bins – no bagged materials.

Do not overload bins. Lids should fully close.
Accepted Recyclables:
- Paper and flattened cardboard
- Aluminum/steel cans and clean foil
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Glass bottles and jars
2023 Holiday Collection Schedule
Collection is suspended on these holidays. Pickup resumes the following business day:
- New Year’s Day: January 1
- Independence Day: July 4
- Labor Day: September 4
- Thanksgiving Day: November 23
- Christmas Day: December 25
Bulky and Brush Collection

Bulky items like furniture and appliances are collected on your second pickup day of the month.

Place items curbside by 7AM. Limit of 5 cubic yards per collection.

Brush and bundles of yard trimmings must be tied in 4-foot lengths weighing less than 50 pounds each.

Drop-Off Recycling

Drop off recycling at the Sanitation Administration Building (817 E. Mayfield Rd.) Monday to Friday from 8AM-5PM.

Accepted items: cardboard, paper, aluminum, tin, plastic, glass, motor oil, cooking oil.

Drop off styrofoam, plastic bags, electronics, tires, and other specialty recycling. Fees may apply.
Trash and Recycling Carts
Residents are provided carts for trash and recycling:
- Trash: 96-gallon carts
- Recycling: 65-gallon carts

Yard Waste Disposal

Yard waste like leaves, grass, and brush can be dropped off at the West Green Waste Facility (800 Mosier Dr).

Proof of residency is required. No commercial loads allowed.

Mulch and compost products are available for purchase.
