Glendale is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona with a population of over 250,000 residents. Like most cities, Glendale offers trash and recycling collection services to residential households and businesses. This article provides an overview of trash and recycling schedules, holidays, fees, and other key details for Glendale.
Regular Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule
Most residential neighborhoods in Glendale have trash collection once per week. Recycling is also collected once weekly on the same day as trash. Collection occurs Monday through Friday depending on your neighborhood.
To find your designated collection day, use the Pickup Schedule Lookup Tool on the City of Glendale website. Simply enter your address and it will show your trash and recycling schedule.
Trash and recycling carts should be placed curbside by 5:00 AM on your pickup day, but no earlier than 5:00 PM the evening before. Carts must be removed from the curb by 10:00 PM on collection day.
Holiday Collection Schedule
Trash and recycling collection are impacted by three major holidays each year in Glendale:
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
On these holidays, collection is shifted back one day for the remainder of that week. For example, if your normal pickup is Thursday and Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday, your pickup will shift to Friday that week.
Check the Holiday Collection Schedule for specific dates each year.

Glendale residents can schedule free bulk trash collection up to 4 times per year. Bulk items include furniture, appliances, mattresses, scrap metal, and other large non-hazardous items.
To schedule a bulk trash pickup:

- Paint, varnish, thinner, strippers
- Pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers
- Fluorescent tubes and CFLs
- Cleaning products
