Holiday Schedule Changes

The Gahanna trash and recycling schedule is impacted by these major holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If the holiday falls on or before your normal collection day, pickup will be delayed by one day that week only.

For example, if you receive Monday collection and the holiday is on Monday, your trash will be picked up on Tuesday.

If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the collection schedule is NOT impacted.

See the current year’s holiday collection schedule on the Local Waste Services website.

Here are the impacted collection days for major holidays in 2023:

  • New Year’s Day (Sunday, Jan 1) – No delay
  • Memorial Day (Monday, May 29) – Delayed to Tuesday for Monday customers
  • Independence Day (Tuesday, Jul 4) – Delayed to Wednesday for Tuesday customers
  • Labor Day (Monday, Sep 4) – Delayed to Tuesday for Monday customers
  • Thanksgiving (Thursday, Nov 23) – No delay

If you forget to set out your trash before the delayed pickup, you’ll need to wait until the following week’s collection.
