Collection Days

Trash and recycling collection in Barberton occurs once per week on a regular schedule:

• Mondays: Wards 5 and 6
• Tuesdays: Wards 1 and 4
• Wednesdays: Wards 2 and 3

Please remember to place trash and recycling carts at the curb by 7:00AM on your scheduled collection day.

Holiday Schedule

If your normal collection day falls on or after these holidays, pickup will be delayed by one day that week:

• New Year’s Day
• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day

If the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, collection will occur on the regular schedule without delays.

Bulk Items

Barberton residents can dispose of bulk items on their normal collection day. Bulk items include:

• Stoves
• Hot water tanks (with water removed)
• Washers
• Dryers
• Furniture
• Chairs
• Carpet (4 feet maximum length)

Mattresses, box springs, and upholstered furniture contaminated with bed bugs must be wrapped and sealed in plastic. Appliances with freon must have the freon removed and be tagged by a certified technician. Untagged appliances will be left and tagged for proper handling.

Keep bulk items at least 3 feet away from carts at the curb. If you have more trash than fits inside the 95-gallon trash cart, you can place bagged trash or bundles next to the cart on collection day. Bundles should not exceed 4 feet in length and 60 pounds.

The total volume of trash outside the cart, including bulk items, yard waste, and bags, cannot exceed 2 cubic yards (approximately 3 ft x 3 ft x 6 ft). Any materials above the 2 cubic yard limit will not be collected and must wait until the next collection day.

Recycling

Barberton uses single-stream recycling so all recyclables can be placed loose in your green recycling cart. No need to sort or bundle. Accepted recyclable items include:

• Plastic bottles and containers #1-7
• Glass bottles and jars
