Rancho Cordova Trash Schedule

//

Admin

Rancho Cordova, California has citywide trash, recycling, and green waste collection services provided by Republic Services. This article will cover everything you need to know about the Rancho Cordova trash and recycling schedule, including collection days, holidays, bulky item pickup, and more.

Collection Days

Trash and green waste carts are collected weekly on the same day, while recycling is collected every other week. Collection days are determined by neighborhood:

  • Monday: Most areas south of Highway 50
  • Tuesday: Gold River, parts of Rancho Cordova Parkway, and other small pockets
  • Wednesday: Most areas north of Highway 50 up to Douglas Road
  • Thursday: Parts of Rio Del Oro and north of Douglas Road

To look up your individual collection day, use the Collection Day Calendar Lookup tool on the Republic Services website.

Holiday Schedule

If the regular collection day falls on or after a major holiday, collection is delayed by one day for that week only. Holidays that affect the Rancho Cordova trash schedule are:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

For Christmas and News Year’s weeks specifically, services are delayed by one day between December 25th-January 6th.

Bulky Item Pickup

Republic Services offers up to 3 free bulky item pickups per year for large household items like furniture and appliances. To schedule a pickup, contact Republic Services at 916-638-9000.

Bulky items will be collected on your regular collection day. Place items at the curb no later than 6am on collection day.

Recycling Tips

Acceptable recycling items include:

  • Paper and cardboard
  • Plastic bottles and containers
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Aluminum cans, clean foil, and pie tins
  • Milk and juice cartons

Check here for a full list of recycling do’s and don’ts. All recyclables should be empty, clean and dry before placing in your blue wheeled cart.

Food Waste Recycling

California Senate Bill 1383 went into effect in 2022, requiring all residents and businesses to recycle food waste in order to reduce methane emissions from landfills.

Rancho Cordova residents can place food waste such as fruit and vegetable peels, meat, bones, and coffee grounds into their green yard waste carts. The food waste is recycled into compost.

Use compostable bags or paper bags to collect food waste in your kitchen before emptying into the green cart. Do not use plastic bags.

Waste Cart Sizes

Republic Services offers 32, 64 or 96 gallon cart sizes. Rates vary based on trash cart size:

Cart Size Monthly Rate
32 gallon $28.32
64 gallon $33.52
96 gallon $44.30

Rates are billed bi-monthly. To request a cart size change or extra recycling/green waste cart, contact Republic Services.
