The Town of Apex provides residents with convenient weekly garbage and recycling collection. This guide covers everything you need to know about Apex’s trash and recycling schedule, including collection days, holiday changes, yard waste pickup, and more.

Service Providers

Apex contracts with two main companies for waste services:

• GFL Environmental – Provides weekly garbage and recycling collection for residences.

• Apex Public Works – Provides weekly yard waste collection for residences.

Finding Your Collection Day

Apex follows a set trash and recycling schedule based on where you live. To find your assigned collection day:

• Check the online collection map. Enter your address to see your color-coded collection day.

• Download the Apex Collects app and allow notifications to get reminders of your pickup days.

• Garbage and recycling are collected on the same day each week.

• Yard waste is collected weekly on the next business day after your garbage/recycling day.

Collection Schedule

• Monday: Blue areas on map
• Tuesday: Green areas
• Wednesday: Red areas
• Thursday: Purple areas
• Friday: Yellow areas

So if you live in a green area, your garbage and recycling are picked up Tuesdays, and yard waste Wednesdays.

Accepted Materials

• Yard waste like leaves, grass, and branches must be placed in brown paper bags, open containers labeled as “yard waste”, or bundled for brush.

• Christmas trees are collected as yard waste during January. Remove all decor first.

Hazardous Waste

The Wake County Household Hazardous Waste Facility accepts chemicals, batteries, electronics, and more. Apex residents can use the facility for safe disposal.

Additional Recycling

• Textiles can be recycled in bins at Apex Nature Park and the Community Center.
