Knowing Southlake’s trash and recycling pickup schedule is key to successful curbside collection. This guide provides details on finding your personalized collection calendar along with tips for preparing for holidays and severe weather.
The City of Southlake contracts waste and recycling services to Community Waste Disposal (CWD).
How to Find Your Collection Day
Southlake provides online tools to lookup your individual garbage and recycling collection schedule based on your address:
Option 1: Collection Calendar
Visit the Online Services portal and enter your address under “My Collection Schedule” to pull up a calendar customized to your pickup days.
Option 2: Account Lookup
Enter your address on the Account Lookup page to see your collection days listed.
This will specify your weekly pickup days for:
- Trash – Twice per week on your designated days
- Recycling – Once per week on your designated day
Option 3: Contact CWD
You can also call CWD at 972-392-9300 to confirm your Southlake collection schedule if needed.
Having your personalized collection calendar makes it easy to remember when to take bins to the curb each week.
Preparing for Holidays
Trash and recycling pickup may be delayed by holidays in Southlake. CWD provides an annual holiday collection schedule so residents can plan accordingly.
The following holidays alter the normal collection schedule:
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
- New Year’s Day
When one of these holidays falls on your normal pickup day, collection slides to one day later that week. Friday collection moves to Saturday.
For example, if you have Thursday recycling pickup, expect it to occur on Friday after Thanksgiving.
Check the holiday collection schedule each year for the exact dates impacted by holiday closures.
Severe Weather Delays
Trash and recycling service may also be interrupted by severe weather if conditions become too hazardous for collection trucks.
In the event of weather delays, your pickup will slide to one day later that week, just like holidays.
If you have concerns about potential weather impacts to collection, sign up for Southlake Alerts to receive trash and recycling service updates.
Bag and Item Limits
Southlake has bag and item limits in place for curbside trash:
- Up to 10 bags or cans per week
- Flatten boxes and ensure cart lids close
- No overflow outside bins
There are no limits on your recycling cart – all accepted materials can be placed loosely inside for collection.
Bulk Item Pickup
Along with your regular trash, Southlake residents can place up to 2 cubic yards of bulk items on the curb per week on your designated collection days.
Acceptable bulk items include:
- Furniture
- Carpet (4 foot rolled lengths)
- Appliances
- Fence panels (under 4′ x 5′)
Make sure to label bulk items with a “Bulk Item” tag for pickup.
Brush Collection
For branches, leaves, and yard debris, Southlake offers weekly curbside brush collection and seasonal leaf recycling:
Weekly Brush Pickup
- Unlimited tied/bundled branches accepted
- 4 foot length limit per bundle
- 50 pound weight limit per bundle
Leaf Recycling
- Biweekly curbside leaf recycling from November to January
- Use any bag – keep leaves separate from other waste
Check the seasonal schedule to find your designated leaf recycling weeks based on your collection day.
Hazardous Waste Disposal
Household hazardous waste requires special handling and cannot go in your normal trash. Southlake residents have two options for hazardous waste disposal:
1. Doorstep Collection
- Schedule a doorstep hazardous waste pickup by calling 972-392-9300.
- Accepted items: chemicals, batteries, electronics, light bulks, used motor oil
- Place items curbside by 7am on your pickup day
2. Self-haul to Transfer Station
- Drop off household hazardous waste at the CWD Transfer Station for free as a Southlake resident
- Accepted items: chemicals, paint, pesticides, batteries, electronics, used motor oil
- Located at 6400 Finley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76126
Safely disposing of hazardous waste protects the community and environment.
Missed Collection
If your trash or recycling is ever missed on your scheduled pickup day, please report it right away to CWD:
- Call 972-392-9300
- Email CWD: [email protected]
CWD will send a truck to collect your bins within 1 business day of a missed pickup report.
Checking your collection schedule and reporting any issues promptly helps ensure consistent service!
