Trash and recycling collection in Ocean City follows a seasonal schedule:
Summer Schedule
The summer schedule runs from the 3rd Monday in June to the Saturday after Labor Day:
- North (Longport Bridge to 9th St): Monday and Thursday
- Middle (9th St to 28th St): Tuesday and Friday
- South (28th St to 59th St): Wednesday and Saturday
Winter Schedule
The winter schedule runs after Labor Day through mid-June:
- South Side: Monday
- Middle: Tuesday
- North: Wednesday
- Upper North: Thursday
- North End: Friday

Policies and Guidelines
Follow these policies for proper trash and recycling collection in Ocean City:

Place bins curbside by 7:00 AM on collection days.

All trash must be bagged – do NOT place in plastic bags.

Recyclables should be loose in bins – do NOT bag.

Yard waste must be bundled or placed in paper yard waste bags.

One bulk item permitted per collection day.

Hazardous waste prohibited.

Address must be clearly labeled on all bins.

Materials cannot remain at curb outside of collection day.

Hazardous Waste Disposal
Hazardous waste like chemicals, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, solvents, pesticides, etc. CANNOT be placed with regular trash or recycling.
Residents must properly dispose of hazardous waste at the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority facility. Contact the MUA at (609) 465-5004 for guidelines.
Bulky Waste Disposal

Bulk items include furniture, mattresses, appliances, grills, etc.

Refrigerant removal and taping doors shut is required for appliances.

Contact Public Works to schedule pickup of extra-large items exceeding 50 lbs and 4 ft in size. Fees may apply.
Christmas Tree Collection

Remove all decorations, lights, and tree stands.

Cut trees in half if exceeding 6 feet.
