The City of Phoenix provides trash and recycling collection services to residents. While collections typically occur on set weekdays, the schedule is impacted by holidays. This article explains how Phoenix holiday trash and recycling pickup works.

Overview of Collection Days

Trash and recycling are collected on the same weekday for Phoenix households. You can find your standard collection day by entering your address on the Find Your Collection Day website.

Phoenix trash collection occurs once per week on your scheduled day. Recycling is also collected curbside on the same weekday.

Holiday Collection Changes

While trash and recycling pickup continues as normal on most holidays, it is impacted by Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day:

• Thanksgiving – No collection on Thanksgiving Day. Thursday and Friday collection shifted.
• Christmas – No collection on Christmas Day. All collection days that week shifted.
• New Year’s – No collection on New Year’s Day. All collection days that week shifted.

For Thanksgiving, scheduled Thursday collections move to Friday. Friday collections move to Saturday:

• Thursday collection -> Shifted to Friday
• Friday collection -> Shifted to Saturday

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday keep their normal collection schedule.

Christmas Holiday Schedule

Due to the Christmas holiday falling on a Monday, all collection days that week are shifted:

• Monday -> Shifted to Tuesday
• Tuesday -> Shifted to Wednesday
• Wednesday -> Shifted to Thursday
• Thursday -> Shifted to Friday
• Friday -> Shifted to Saturday

New Year’s Holiday Schedule

With New Year’s Day on a Monday, collection days are adjusted as follows:

• Monday -> Shifted to Tuesday
• Tuesday -> Shifted to Wednesday
• Wednesday -> Shifted to Thursday
• Thursday -> Shifted to Friday
• Friday -> Shifted to Saturday

No Changes for Other Holidays

Trash and recycling collection in Phoenix continues as normal on other major holidays, including:

• Labor Day
• Veterans Day

While city offices are closed on these holidays, pickup services remain on the standard schedule for residents.
