Collection Days

Trash, recycling, and yard waste are collected once per week on designated days based on your address.

Collection occurs between 6:30am and 4:30pm on your scheduled day.
Collection Policies

Carts must be placed at the curb or alleyway by 6am on collection day.

Wheels should face the curb, lid opening toward the street. Keep 3ft clearance from objects.

Carts must be removed within 24 hours of collection.

Do not put materials in plastic bags or cardboard boxes next to carts.
Accepted Curbside Materials
Trash: All household waste except hazardous materials. Use city-provided carts.
Recycling: Paper, cardboard, metal cans, glass bottles/jars, plastic containers. Use city-provided carts.
Yard Waste: Grass clippings, leaves, brush. Use paper bags or reusable containers labeled “yard waste.”
Holiday Schedule Changes
If the holiday falls on or before your regular collection day, pickup moves to one day later that week.

Obtaining Carts

Transfer Station for Large Items

Rockville’s Transfer Station accepts large household items that don’t fit in trash carts.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

Hazardous items like chemicals, batteries, paint, are banned from regular trash.
