Trash and Recycling Collection Days

Trash and recycling are collected on the same day of the week depending on your address:

  • Thursday: Edgeworth, Linden, and Ferryway areas

Trash and recycling collection occurs once per week. Make sure your carts are curbside by 7AM on your collection day. Collection times vary depending on the route.

  • New Year’s Day: No delay
  • MLK Day: No delay
  • Presidents’ Day: No delay
  • Patriots’ Day: Trash delayed one day
  • Memorial Day: Trash delayed one day
  • Independence Day: No delay
  • Labor Day: Trash delayed one day
  • Indigenous Peoples’ Day: No delay
  • Veterans Day: No delay
  • Thanksgiving: No delay
  • Christmas Day: Trash delayed one day
  • New Year’s Eve: No delay

On weeks with holidays, trash pickup moves to the following day. For example, if your normal pickup is Monday and the holiday is on Monday, your trash will be picked up on Tuesday.

Yard Waste Schedule

Yard waste is collected seasonally on your trash day from April 1 to December 1. Place leaves, grass clippings, small branches, and plant trimmings in biodegradable yard waste bags or rigid containers labelled “Yard Waste.”

Yard waste stickers are required on all yard waste bags/containers April 1 – June 30. Stickers can be purchased at City Hall.

Brush and branches less than 1 inch in diameter may be included. Branches must be tied in bundles no longer than 4 feet.

Recycling Schedule

The recycling schedule is the same as your trash day. Accepted recyclables include:

  • Paper and cardboard
  • Metal food and beverage cans
  • Plastic containers #1-7
  • Glass bottles and jars

Rinse containers to remove food residue before recycling. Place loose recyclables directly into your recycling cart. Do not bag recyclables.

Special Collection Schedules

Mattresses/Box Springs

Mattress and box spring recycling pickup occurs quarterly on your trash day. Upcoming dates:

Holiday Trees

Compost

Opt-in curbside compost collection is available weekly on trash day for $10/month. Sign up for composting here.

Trash Guidelines

Follow these guidelines for a smooth trash and recycling collection:

  • Bag all trash in standard plastic trash bags. Do not use paper bags.
  • Tie bags tightly and double bag to prevent rips.
  • Place carts curbside by 7AM on collection day 3-5 feet apart from each other.
  • Face cart lids opening towards the street with wheels against the curb.
  • Do not overfill carts. Lids should fully close.
  • Clearly label extra waste like mattresses and yard waste.
