Shreveport, Louisiana provides city-run garbage and recycling collection services for residents and some businesses. This article will explain Shreveport’s standard trash and recycling pickup schedule, how to get waste carts, holiday schedules, and other key details for managing your trash and recycling.

Overview of Shreveport’s Trash and Recycling Program

The City of Shreveport provides garbage and recycling collection to residents once per week using city-provided 96-gallon and 64-gallon wheeled carts.

Recycling collection is currently suspended, but the city still provides trash collection. All trash must be bagged and placed in the city garbage carts by 7AM on your collection day.

Some small businesses can also receive city trash collection with one or two 96-gallon carts if they generate small volumes of waste.

The city observes major holidays by suspending collection services on those days. Schedules shift, with no service provided on the holiday and collection pushed back a day for the rest of the week.

Shreveport Standard Weekly Trash Schedule

Shreveport provides once weekly garbage collection on a set route schedule:

  • Your specific collection day is determined by your home address.

  • Trash carts must be placed curbside by 7AM on your designated day.

  • All waste must fit inside the carts, with lids fully closed.

  • Trash should be removed from curbs by 10PM on collection day.

  • No trash collection occurs on observed city holidays.
