Trash and Recycling Collection Schedules

Kyle provides weekly curbside trash and recycling collection on designated days depending on your neighborhood.

Trash collection occurs once per week. Recycling collection alternates between weeks – one week is plastics/aluminum/metal cans, the next week is cardboard and paper.

Collection days start as early as 7:00am so it’s important to have bins curbside the night before your scheduled day. Collection times vary throughout the day.

Separate yard waste collection occurs every-other week on your second collection day. Place leaves, grass, brush in paper yard waste bags curbside.

There are two easy ways to find your neighborhood’s collection day schedule:

This online tool provided by TDS allows you to enter your address and view a customized calendar showing your trash, recycling, and yard waste collection days.

The city provides a collection zone map showing neighborhood collection days.

For example, neighborhoods in Zone A have trash collection on Monday and recycling/yard waste on Thursday.
Trash and Recycling Bin Placement
Follow these guidelines for curbside bin placement on collection days:

Place bins at the curb or alley line the night before your scheduled collection day. Do not place in streets or bike lanes.

Position bins with lid opening facing the street and wheels against the curb.

Leave 3ft of space between bins and any obstacles like mailboxes or parked cars.

Remove bins from curbside by the next day after collection. Storing bins improperly can lead to citations.
Missed Collections
If your trash or recycling is not collected on your scheduled day:

Double check that bins were properly placed curbside by 7am on the scheduled day.

Contact TDS at 512-282-3508 to report a missed collection by the next business day.

If you contact after the next business day, your report will be logged for future improvement but collection will not return that week.
Recycling Right
Kyle only accepts certain materials for curbside recycling collection in the designated recycling carts. Some common mistakes lead to entire truckloads being sent to the landfill:

Hazardous Waste Disposal
Household hazardous waste like chemicals, batteries, CFL bulbs, electronics, and more require special disposal.
Do NOT place hazardous items in curbside trash or recycling.
Instead, Kyle residents can drop these items off for free at the Austin Resource Recovery Recycle and Reuse Drop-Off Center.
