This article provides an overview of trash and recycling collection days, guidelines, and key information for the City of Concord, North Carolina.

Service Provider

The City of Concord manages trash and recycling services for residents. Contact Customer Care at 704-920-5555 with questions.

Trash Collection

  • Trash is collected weekly on your designated day, Monday through Thursday.

  • Carts cannot exceed 50 pounds.

  • Extra trash must be bagged beside carts.

  • Place carts curbside by 7AM on collection day.

  • Up to 5 extra bags are allowed the weeks after Christmas and New Year’s.

Recycling Collection

  • Recycling is collected weekly on your designated day, Monday through Thursday.

  • Use provided recycling carts.

  • Place curbside by 7AM on collection day.

Accepted Curbside Recyclables:

  • Paper and cardboard
  • Plastic bottles and jugs
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Aluminum and steel cans

Yard Waste Collection

  • Yard waste is collected weekly on your designated day.

  • Place leaves, grass, and brush in paper bags, personal containers, or reusable cans.

  • Bundle brush and branches.

  • Separate yard waste from other garbage and recycling.

Bulky Item Collection

  • Bulky items like furniture and appliances are collected monthly with recycling.

  • Contact Customer Care to schedule pickup of extra bulky items. Fees may apply.

Holiday Collection Schedule

If a holiday falls on your regular collection day:

  • Trash, recycling, and bulky item collection slide to the next day.

  • No yard waste collection on holiday weeks.

Leaf Collection

  • Loose leaf collection occurs twice per year, in November and December.

  • Don’t rake leaves into roads, gutters, or bike lanes. Keep leaf piles off sidewalks.

  • Avoid using plastic bags. Use paper bags or place leaves at the curb.

Brush Collection

  • Brush and branches are collected by request weekly.

  • Cut brush and branches to 4 foot lengths and bundle them securely.

  • Maximum brush pile size is 4 feet x 6 feet. Limit 3 piles per collection.

  • Schedule brush collection through CARTology app or by contacting Customer Care.

Christmas Tree Collection

  • Live trees are collected curbside for 3 weeks after Christmas.

  • Remove all decorations, lights, and stands.

  • Cut trees taller than 6 feet in half.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Household hazardous waste must be disposed of properly. Drop off paint, chemicals, batteries, etc. at:

Curbside Textile Recycling

Simple Recycling offers curbside textile recycling:

  • Place any textiles or small household items in bags beside your cart on collection day.

  • Accepted items include clothing, shoes, blankets, toys, kitchenware, etc.

The City of Concord offers recycling programs for mattresses, electronics, tires, and appliances.
