Provo provides the following waste collection services:

Some tips for ensuring successful trash pickup:
- Place cans curbside by 6am on your collection day (or night before).
- Remove cans within 24 hours of pickup.
- Keep 3ft between cans and away from obstructions.
- Bag trash inside cans when possible.
- Call 311 to schedule extra pickups as needed.
Recycling Collection Details
Blue recycling cans are collected weekly on the same day as your regular trash pickup. Recycling participation can save $12/month on your trash collection fees.
You can sign up for recycling service by calling 311 or (801) 852-6000. Provo recycling accepts the “Super Six” materials:
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Aluminum cans
- Steel cans
- Plastic bottles and jugs
- Glass bottles and jars
Yard waste and other non-approved items should not be placed in recycling cans. When in doubt, leave it out!
There are also recycling dumpsters available at Kiwanis Park (820 N 1100 E) and the Compost Yard (1625 S Industrial Pkwy) that accept the Super Six recyclables.
Yard Waste Collection
Green yard waste cans are collected weekly March-November on the same day as your trash pickup. There is no charge for yard waste service December-February.

The yard waste compost yard is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7am-5pm for dropping off extra yard waste or buying compost. It is located at 1625 S Industrial Pkwy.
Holiday and Special Collection Schedules
Provo’s trash collection schedule is impacted by major holidays. If the holiday falls on your normal collection day, pickup will be delayed by one day that week.

- Independence Day – July 4, 2023
- Labor Day – September 4, 2023
- Thanksgiving – November 23, 2023
- Christmas Day – December 25, 2023
Spring Cleanup dumpsters are provided April 3 – May 12, 2023.
Fall Cleanup dumpsters are provided October 2 – November 10, 2023.
Yard waste collection runs February 27 – November 30, 2023.
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
Household hazardous waste like chemicals, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, electronics, and more require special disposal. Do not place these items in your normal trash.
Instead, Provo residents should bring household hazardous waste to the South Utah Valley Solid Waste District facility located at 2450 W 400 S in Springville.
