Collection Zones and Dates

Phoenix is divided into 10 collection zones covering specific neighborhoods. Bulk trash pickup occurs 4 times per year in each zone on a rotating schedule.

Accepted Bulk Trash Items

  • Furniture (chairs, tables, mattresses, etc.)
  • Appliances
  • Toilets
  • Vegetation trimmings less than 4 feet long and 12 inches in diameter

Bulk Item Placement Tips

  • Items must be placed out by 6 AM on the Monday of your scheduled collection week
  • Keep piles along the property edge within 5 feet of the road or alley
  • Do not block sidewalks, streets, alleys, or water meters
  • Securely bag yard waste like grass, leaves, weeds
  • Avoid placing bulk items next to parked vehicles

Restricted Items

The following items are NOT accepted as bulk trash:

  • Loose debris, ordinary household trash
  • Construction/demolition materials over 4 feet long or 25 lbs
  • Car parts over 4 feet long or 20 lbs
  • Tires
  • Glass items (windows, shower doors, etc.)
  • Tree stumps over 4 feet long and 12 inches diameter
  • Metal items over 4 feet long or 20 lbs
  • Appliances containing refrigerants (freezers, A/Cs)
  • Hazardous waste (chemicals, batteries, paints)

Many bulk items like electronics, chemicals, or yard waste may be hazardous or recyclable. Avoid putting these items to waste!
