Holiday Collection Schedules
Trash collection usually continues on normal schedules even on holidays when city offices are closed. However, some holidays affect pickup days:

Bulk Trash Collection
- Bulk items like furniture, appliances, and other large items are collected on your normal trash day.
- Bulk pickup must be scheduled in advance by calling 757-382-CITY, using the online form, or the Chesapeake Service Request app.
- Requests must be made by the weekday before your normal pickup day.
- Place bulk items at the curb no earlier than 3 days before your pickup day.
- 12 bulk collections are allowed per household per year.

Yard Waste Collection
- Bagged yard waste like leaves, grass clippings, and small branches must be placed in clear plastic bags.
- Bags should be placed curbside on your normal collection day – no scheduling required.
- Large branches and limbs are collected as bulk items.
- Dirt, soil, sod, rocks, and clay are not accepted in yard waste bags.
