Holiday Collection Schedule
Trash and recycling collection are delayed by one day when a holiday falls on a weekday:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
For example, if your normal pickup is Monday, it shifts to Tuesday after a holiday.

New utility accounts are required to receive city trash service. Additional recycling and yard waste carts can be requested for $8.69 per month.
Collection Guidelines
- Carts must be curbside by 6am on your pickup day
- Trash, recycling and yard waste go in separate city-provided carts
- Do not bag materials – place loose in carts
- Close lids fully and avoid overfilling
- Yard waste must be in paper bags inside cart
- Remove carts from curb by end of collection day
Leave 3ft clearance around carts. Avoid placing near obstacles like mailboxes and parked cars.
Missed Pickup
If pickup is missed on your scheduled day:
- Confirm carts were out properly by 6am
- Check if nearby households had collection

- Missed collection reported timely is typically picked up within 24 hours
Large Item Pickup
Bulky items like furniture and appliances can be collected curbside by appointment:

- Mattresses and appliances require special handling

Holiday Trees
Real Christmas trees are collected curbside during the first two weeks of January. Remove all decorations, lights, and stands. Flocked trees must be cut in half.
Recycling Drop-Off
The Tulare Recycling Center accepts recyclables at 3766 South K Street. The center is closed major holidays.
Drop-off recycling at the unmanned bins at Mooney Grove Park. Avoid contaminated and bagged loads.
Hazardous Waste
Household hazardous waste like chemicals, batteries, and electronics can be dropped off for free at the Permanent Collection Facility:
