Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule for Meridian, Idaho



The city of Meridian contracts with Republic Services for trash and recycling collection for all residential and commercial customers. This article provides an overview of Meridian’s trash and recycling schedule and services.

Trash Collection

  • Trash is collected weekly on your designated day. To find your scheduled collection day, visit Republic Services’ website and enter your address. You can also call Republic Services at 208-345-1265.

  • Trash must be placed in authorized containers by 6AM on collection day. Authorized containers include Republic-provided carts or your own trash cans up to 32 gallons and under 50 pounds.

  • Extra trash is collected on the 2nd collection day of the week at no extra charge. For example, if your normal pickup is Thursday, you can set extra trash on the curb on Monday for pickup.

  • Bulk items like furniture can be collected on your normal trash day. Contact Republic Services to schedule pickup of bulk items.

  • The city provides quarterly Spring Cleanup Collection for extra trash and bulky items. See the trash calendar for scheduled dates.

  • Burning and burying trash is prohibited in Meridian. All trash must be collected by Republic Services or disposed of at the Ada County Landfill.

Recycling Collection

  • Recycling is collected every other week on your scheduled recycling day. Check your address on Republic’s website or call 208-345-1265.

  • Recycling must be placed curbside by 6AM on your collection day in your authorized recycling cart.

  • Accepted recycling items include paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, tin cans, plastic bottles and jugs. No glass.

Yard Waste Collection

  • Yard waste is collected weekly April 1 through October 31. Place leaves, grass clippings, and other yard waste in your designated yard waste cart.

  • From November 1-30, leaves are collected in your yard waste cart for fall curbside leaf recycling.

  • Brush and branches must be cut to 4-foot lengths and bundled for pickup on your normal collection day.

Holiday Schedule

Trash and recycling collection are suspended on major holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

After a holiday, collection takes place one day late through the end of that week.

Hazardous Waste Disposal

Meridian residents can dispose of household hazardous waste every Monday from 12PM – 7PM at the Republic Services parking lot (2130 W Franklin Rd). Accepted items include:

  • Paints and solvents
  • Automotive fluids
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Fluorescent bulbs
  • Sharps in sealed containers

Additional Waste Services

  • Holiday Lights Recycling: From November 28 through January 14, string lights and electrical cords can be recycled for free at the Meridian Transfer Station.

  • Prescription Drug Drop-Off: Unused medications can be safely disposed of at the permanent drop boxes at Meridian Police Department or City Hall.

  • Sharps Disposal: Use Republic Services’ mail-back program for safe sharps disposal. Order sharps containers through Republic Services 208-345-1265.
