Garbage carts must be placed at the curb for collection before 6 AM on your scheduled day. Carts and any additional waste must be removed from the curb by 7 AM the following day.

The city asks that cart lids be closed and not overflowing. Do not place hazardous materials, demolition debris, or yard waste in garbage carts.

Recycling Collection

The city of Tyler offers single-stream curbside recycling collection once per week on your designated recycling day. Standard recyclables accepted include:

  • Paper and cardboard
  • Aluminum cans, steel cans, and tin cans
  • Plastics #1-7
  • Glass bottles and jars

Recyclables should be clean and placed loose in the provided 18-gallon recycling bins. Do not bag recyclables. Additional recyclable materials can be placed in boxes or paper bags beside the bin.

Bulky Item Collection

The city of Tyler provides free bulky item collection weeks in the spring and fall. During these weeks, residents can place bulky items such as furniture, appliances, and mattresses at the curb on their collection day at no extra charge.
